In Greece, a mystery body of a British woman was discovered inside a suitcase that had been abandoned in a building.

An Interpol investigation was sparked by the horrific discovery of the 38-year-old woman's remains by a homeless guy in Athens.

On July 18, just after 1pm, the British man's body was discovered at 7 Evelpidon Street in the Kypseli neighborhood.

The body showed no obvious wounds or indications of a struggle.

A homeless man who first discovered the victim said he had followed a foul smell into the building, which had reportedly been deserted for at least two years.

He entered a room inside and found the suitcase on the ground, with a human limb visible from the outside.

It is estimated that the British woman had been d3ad for around eight days before she was found.

Police who rushed to the scene were unable to immediately identify her, as she reportedly had no tattoos or identification on her person.

They described her as aged around 30, approximately 5ft 4in tall, with reddish hair tied in a bun, and wearing black shorts and a T-shirt.

Her shorts reportedly bore French university insignia, which led investigators to believe she was not a local Greek resident.

One Greek officer was quoted as saying that finding a foreign national d3ad in a suitcase in the heart of Athens was a first, describing it as unprecedented in the history of Greek-British relations.

An aut0psy is expected to be carried out in the coming days to determine the cause of d3ath.

The mysterious circumstances surrounding her passing prompted an immediate investigation by Greek officials, who have since called on Interpol and American investigators for assistance.

Interpol reportedly informed the Hellenic Police on Monday that the body belonged to a British woman, based on DNA testing.

Investigators are yet to formally identify the woman, but say she had travelled to Greece via Cyprus after departing from the US.

They are now working to piece together her final days, including speaking with anyone who may have been with her prior to her d3ath, while local hotels are being searched in an effort to trace her last movements.

Police are yet to identify a suspect. Interpol typically becomes involved in such cases when a national police force requests international cooperation on cross-border crimes.
