A routine morning turned tragic after a pedestrian was struck by a road sweeper and rushed to hospital with critical injuries.

A pedestrian who was struck by a road sweeper and had life-threatening injuries passed away.
Following the collision on Cleggs Lane in Salford on Tuesday morning, the 69-year-old man was sent to the hospital.
Hours later, he passed away from his potentially fatal injuries.
The 39-year-old driver of the road sweeper was unharmed in the collision.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said that at around 8.16am, a road sweeper collided with a pedestrian on Cleggs Lane, Salford, adding that the pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment.
According to the police, the driver, a 34-year-old man, was uninjured, while the pedestrian, a 69-year-old man, suffered serious, life-threatening injuries.
The pedestrian sadly d!ed from his injuries the following afternoon.
The force has appealed to anyone with information to come forward, including witnesses to the incident or anyone with CCTV, dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage from the area, urging them to contact police via 0161 856 4741 or the Live Chat service at gmp.police.uk, quoting log 687 of 28/07/26.
