At the launching of the recently renovated and upgraded Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, on Tuesday, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo revealed the development.
The project is anticipated to greatly improve operational efficiency and place Kano among the top international airports in the world.

The Minister also highlighted ongoing presidential interventions.
Because Kano Airport is so important, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's government has set aside funds for significant improvements.
For this reason, one of our esteemed leaders and one of your wonderful sons, Dr.Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, was appointed by Mr. President to chair the Board of FAAN, because of the vision he has for aviation and for this great state.”
Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, revealed the development on Tuesday during the Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal's commissioning at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano.
"To enable Kano Airport to compete with other international airports worldwide, the President has approved the sum of ₦46 billion for the resurfacing and reconstruction of the second runway." Keyamo spoke.
Additionally, under President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, the Minister reiterated the Federal Government's steadfast commitment to modernizing Nigeria's aviation infrastructure.
The commissioning ceremony drew an array of distinguished dignitaries, including the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje; the Managing Director/Chief Executive of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku; the Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Kano State, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi, who represented the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf; the Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure; the Director of Air Transport Management, Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Ahmed Tijani; FAAN Directors, aviation stakeholders, and other invited guests.
The announcement claims that the domestic terminal is named in honor of Mallam Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo, a famous aviation pioneer and one of Kano State's most distinguished sons, in acknowledgment of his enormous contributions to the expansion and advancement of Nigeria's aviation sector.
The Minister characterized the occasion as yet another important turning point in the Federal Government's continuous effort to update the nation's aviation infrastructure.
We are here today to officially open the renovated Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
We just refer to it as MAKIA in aviation parlance," he stated.
The Minister described Kano as the commercial hub of Northern Nigeria and emphasized the city's vital significance to the country's economy and aviation industry.

For us, Kano continues to be Northern Nigeria's commercial hub. We have set aside Kano for significant renovations because of this.
He also disclosed that contractors are now working on the airport's Hajj Terminal refurbishment, which has already started.
Additionally, we have started to modernize the Hajj Terminal. As we speak, contractors are already on site for that current job.
The Minister reaffirmed that the Muhammadu Adamu Dankabo Domestic Terminal renovation is a component of the Federal Government's larger aviation modernization strategy, which aims to enhance passenger comfort, operational effectiveness, safety, and service delivery throughout Nigeria's airports.
Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director/Chief Executive of FAAN, stated in her remarks that the improved terminal demonstrates the Authority's dedication to offering top-notch airport amenities while improving travelers' experiences.
Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the chairman of FAAN's Governing Board, praised President Tinubu and the Minister for giving aviation development in Kano top priority, emphasizing that the ongoing projects will further solidify the state's standing as Northern Nigeria's premier commercial and aviation hub.
