The Director-General of Public Affairs at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Michael Achimugu, has advised air travellers to get to the airport at least three hours before departure for international flights, noting that check-in closing times differ from one airline to another.

In a post on social media on Monday, Achimugu urged passengers travelling internationally to arrive early, stressing that some airlines shut their check-in counters ahead of others.

He also advised travellers to check in online where possible and secure their seat numbers in advance, emphasising that arriving too early is far better than arriving late.

The advisory is coming as the NCAA continues efforts to reduce cases of passenger delays and missed flights linked to late arrivals at airports.

Stakeholders in the aviation sector have also repeatedly pointed out that check-in closing times vary across airlines, making early arrival, particularly for international trips, an important part of ensuring smooth and stress-free travel.
