A tragic road crash in Abia State has claimed several lives after a vehicle reportedly lost control and struck people at a busy intersection.

Six people were killed on Tuesday after a speeding black Toyota smashed into a group of traders and motorcyclists at Umuikaa intersection, Isiala South local government area, Abia State, on the Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt road.
Seven additional people were injured in varying degrees, and six motorcycles were wrecked.
The car, which was approaching the crossroads from Umuahia, reportedly lost control and collided with the traders, many of whom were female.
Before driving into a structure, the automobile collided with commercial motorbike operators who were out on business.
While survivors were taken to the hospital for immediate medical assistance, the bodies of the sad indigenous people who perished in the disaster were transported to the mortuary once they were certified dead.
Although the appropriate government agencies have not yet disclosed the official cause of the accident, some Umuikaa residents have speculated that brake failure or excessive speeding may have contributed to it.
The accident was confirmed by C.C. Ngozi Ezeoma, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Abia State, when a report reached her on Wednesday morning.
The Sector Commander stated, "Yes, it occurred at Umuikaa junction."
