Police have arrested a suspect over an alleged plot to kidnap a pastor and a retired school principal after acting on intelligence.

Delta State Police Command has thwarted an alleged attempt to kidn@p a pastor and a retired school principal in Ughelli.
The Police Public Relations Officer disclosed that on July 31, 2026, operatives of the division in Ughelli, acting on credible intelligence, prevented a planned kidn@pping after learning that a 26-year-old suspect had reportedly sought to enlist an individual into a kidn@pping syndicate targeting the two victims.
Officers moved swiftly on the intelligence, apprehending the suspect at his workplace in Ughelli.
A search conducted during the operation yielded one single-barrel firearm and two live rounds of ammunition.
The suspect remains in custody undergoing further investigation.
The Police Commissioner for Delta State commended the officers involved and reaffirmed the Command's commitment to intelligence-driven policing and the vigorous pursuit of violent offenders.
He appealed to residents to continue furnishing timely and reliable information to support efforts in maintaining security across the state.
