The Social Democratic Party's presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, has blamed widespread corruption for Nigeria's ongoing economic and security problems, contending that the country cannot attain stability and prosperity without integrating accountability, integrity, and transparency throughout the public sector.

Speaking at the Arewa Awareness Summit on Unity Against Insecurity in Kaduna State, Adebayo called on political leaders to pursue responsible governance and implement practical, evidence-based responses to the country's multifaceted challenges.

He contended that effective leadership and sound governance are essential prerequisites for addressing the nation's difficulties, emphasising that corruption represents a fundamental impediment to development.

Adebayo stressed that policy reforms and institutional restructuring will yield limited results unless grounded in principles of transparency, accountability, and integrity in public service.

He highlighted Northern Nigeria's substantial human and material resources, urging regional leaders to mobilise these assets for the benefit of local populations and broader economic advancement.

He called on stakeholders to transcend theoretical debate regarding the sources of insecurity and instead concentrate efforts on identifying and executing practical, long-term solutions to the problem.

The candidate advocated for expanded investment in agriculture, identifying the sector as pivotal to employment generation, food security, and economic growth.

Adebayo also raised concerns about high rates of school exclusion across Northern Nigeria, warning that meaningful development remains unattainable without substantially increased educational investment in the region.
