A live television interview involving Senator Orji Kalu took a dramatic turn after a tense exchange with the anchor over questions about Nigeria’s economic challenges.

Senator Orji Kalu of Abia North became engaged in a tense exchange with a television anchor during a live broadcast interview on Wednesday, alleging that the journalist was attempting to harass him.
The confrontation occurred whilst Kalu was addressing questions regarding the economic policies of the preceding Muhammadu Buhari administration, particularly its monetary expansion and its connection to inflationary pressures.
In defending the current administration, Kalu contended that the previous government had similarly implemented decisions with significant economic consequences.
He argued that the former administration had front-loaded oil revenues and disposed of crude oil reserves, and asserted that he was uncertain whether any alternative leadership would have performed better under comparable circumstances.
He acknowledged that the previous government had expanded the money supply and that such decisions had faced public criticism.
As the anchor persisted with questioning on the subject, Kalu expressed irritation with the line of inquiry.
He objected to what he characterised as harassment, stating that the interaction had ceased to constitute a conventional interview and asserting that individuals should not be summoned for such treatment.
The broadcast exchange arose during a broader programme discussion examining the economic challenges inherited by the current administration, including the repercussions of the previous government's monetary policy decisions.
