The Police Service Commission has sanctioned the assignment of a new Commandant to the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudi, Kano State and eight Commissioners of Police to various states.
The newly appointed Commandant, Auwal Mohammed, holds the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police and brings over 33 years of experience in operational matters, investigations, intelligence-driven policing and training.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science and a Master of Science in Public Policy from Bayero University, and has previously served as Commandant of Police College Maiduguri, Commissioner of Police in Bauchi, and as Assistant Inspector-General supervising Zone 3 and Zone 6.
He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.
The eight newly posted Commissioners of Police are deployed to Abia, Plateau, Bayelsa, Cross River, Anambra, Edo, Jigawa and Delta states.
These postings follow the elevation of former Commissioners in those states to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General, measures taken to address ongoing operational requirements.
The deployment decisions emerged from a Commission meeting presided over by a senior Board Member. During the proceedings, leadership emphasised that the newly deployed senior officers must demonstrate firmness, uphold constitutional principles, maintain impartiality and exercise diligence in fulfilling their responsibilities.
