Real Madrid has secured the transfer of Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig in a deal potentially valued at €140 million, with the 19-year-old committing to a seven-year contract at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The transfer positions Diomande among the most costly acquisitions in Real Madrid's history, with the fee potentially exceeding the amount the Spanish club agreed to pay Borussia Dortmund for England midfielder Jude Bellingham in 2023.
Multiple top European institutions had pursued the teenager following his impressive campaign with RB Leipzig, though Paris Saint-Germain abandoned their pursuit after a €120 million bid was rejected.
Liverpool similarly had an initial £69 million offer declined whilst searching for a Mohamed Salah replacement.
Diomande becomes Real Madrid's sixth summer acquisition under head coach Jose Mourinho, joining several other new arrivals at the club.
His recent performances in Germany earned him recognition as the Bundesliga Young Player of the Season, with contributions of 12 league goals and eight assists, alongside 13 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.
The winger represented Ivory Coast at the FIFA World Cup, appearing in all four matches as his nation reached the quarter-finals before elimination.
His career trajectory has progressed rapidly following his initial departure from Ivory Coast to pursue academy development in the United States, before subsequently joining Spanish side Leganés and subsequently RB Leipzig.
Diomande is recognised for his pace, dribbling proficiency and positional versatility, capable of operating across either flank.
Real Madrid considers him among Europe's most promising young talents with significant potential to establish himself as a cornerstone of the club's future attacking strategy.
