Nonye Soludo Wins National Health Award for Community Impact Initiative

Dr. Nonye Soludo, the wife of the governor of Anambra State, won the Health Activism category at the 2026 BudgIT Active Citizens Awards, a national honor honoring people and institutions that have made outstanding contributions to social development and civic participation in Nigeria.

The esteemed award ceremony recognizes Soludo's exceptional leadership in promoting public health advocacy, community wellbeing, and preventative healthcare through the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative.

At the recent Lagos award ceremony, the governor's wife received recognition ahead of other finalists, including Sidney Sampson, a Nigerian public health and social impact specialist, and Ramatu Ada Ochekliye, a Nigerian health and gender rights campaigner.

Innovation, impact, sustainability, inclusion, leadership, and quantifiable community outcomes were all taken into consideration during the award's stringent selection process.

The governor's wife responded to the prize by characterizing it as both a humble honor and a fresh summons to serve with even more fervor and commitment.

She dedicated it to all members of the Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo Initiative, as well as to the resilient people of the State who have embraced the concept of wellbeing and Healthy Living, as well as to important partners, volunteers, healthcare professionals, and community leaders.

We have demonstrated that communities can achieve long-lasting change when they take charge of their health, much like a family united by a common objective.
