The Nigerian naira has held its ground across both the formal and informal foreign exchange sectors, with market participants closely tracking shifts in liquidity supplies and buyer interest.

Trading on the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market occurred at approximately ₦1,368.22 per unit of United States currency, computed from the weighted average of transactions executed in the regulated segment, based on data released by the Central Bank of Nigeria and market tracking services.

Recent sessions have seen the official market confine itself to a confined range around the ₦1,36x level, reflecting relatively subdued price movement in the regulated space.

The unregulated currency segment, where dollars traded at roughly ₦1,405 per unit on Friday, showed a markup of approximately ₦37 in comparison to the official NFEM quotation.

The disparity between these two channels has contracted substantially when measured against the broader gaps observed during 2024 and portions of 2025, indicating progress toward narrower pricing differentials stemming from recent foreign-exchange policy adjustments.

Sources in the currency-trading sector attributed the parallel-market performance to consistent demand originating from import-dependent businesses, overseas travellers, and retail purchasers.

Concurrent support emerged from receipts by exporters and other independent supply sources, which contributed to equilibrium in the official segment.

Market commentators flagged that forthcoming movements in the nation's external asset reserves, incoming portfolio capital flows, and petroleum income levels will function as determinants of naira performance in subsequent trading periods.

Those requiring limited quantities of dollar currency typically access the parallel segment for expedited transactions, whilst corporations with requisite regulatory approvals are directed toward formal banking infrastructure and official market channels for their foreign-exchange procurement.
