A major fire outbreak at a petrol station in Abuja has left emergency responders injured and caused significant damage to the facility and nearby structures.

The FCT Fire Service has confirmed that three of its personnel sustained injuries of varying severity while battling a fire outbreak at a filling station in Abuja on Thursday night.
The service's Public Relations Officer disclosed the development on Friday.
According to the official, the filling station situated in Area 3, Garki, caught fire following an explosion involving a fuel tanker loaded with petrol.
The service received notification of the incident at approximately 9:44 p.m. and immediately deployed personnel and equipment to the location.
Given the scale of the emergency, additional fire service agencies joined the response effort, resulting in a coordinated multi-agency firefighting operation.
During efforts to bring the fire under control, three firefighters sustained serious injuries.
One individual is currently receiving intensive medical treatment at the Trauma Centre of National Hospital, Abuja, with medical specialists working to facilitate his recovery.
The remaining two were transported to Alliance Hospital in Area 11, Garki, where they continue receiving treatment.
The official noted that investigations into the fire's cause remain ongoing and urged members of the public to refrain from speculation pending the official findings.
The spokesperson expressed appreciation for the cooperation extended by allied emergency agencies, security personnel, and members of the public who contributed to the coordinated response.
He commended the dedication, professionalism, and courage demonstrated by all responding personnel, noting that their prompt action prevented a potentially more severe outcome.
Preliminary assessment indicated that the fire affected the filling station premises along with adjacent structures.
A fuel tanker containing approximately 45,000 litres of petroleum product was consumed by the blaze. Of the 13 fuel dispensing pumps within the facility, three sustained direct damage, while two civilian vehicles were completely destroyed.
Portions of a nearby government revenue office and sections of an adjoining two-storey commercial building were also affected.
The official urged operators of fuel stations and commercial facilities, along with the general public, to strictly observe fire safety regulations, emphasising the importance of regular maintenance of fire protection systems and prompt reporting of emergencies through designated channels.
The Director of the FCT Fire Service expressed concern for the injured personnel and appealed for public prayers as they continue receiving treatment, reaffirming the service's commitment to protecting lives and property through rapid emergency response, public education, and enforcement of fire safety standards.
The emergency operation was personally supervised by the Federal Fire Service Controller General alongside the FCT Fire Service Director and other tactical and rescue personnel.
