Residents in the vicinity of Apo Bridge, Abuja, were gripped by panic on Thursday night following reports of an explosion near a filling station close to a hotel in Garki.
An eyewitness described hearing multiple blasts, initially believing the area had come under attack, recounting that he heard approximately seven explosions occur in succession.
The incident reportedly took place near the busy filling station, triggering fear and confusion among motorists and residents who fled the vicinity for safety.
Personnel from both the Federal Fire Service and the FCT Fire Service subsequently arrived at the scene and commenced emergency response operations aimed at containing the fire and preventing further spread.
At the time of reporting, the cause of the explosion remained officially unconfirmed, with no immediate details available regarding casualties or the extent of damage sustained.
Security agencies and emergency responders continued operations at the location, while residents were advised to avoid the area to allow rescue and firefighting efforts to proceed without obstruction.
