A major breakthrough has emerged following the shocking killing of a university professor and his younger brother in Makurdi.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM), Prof. Timothy Terseer Alabar, has announced that five individuals have been apprehended in relation to the alleged k!lling of Prof. Gabriel Saawuan Nyityo, a lecturer at the institution.
Alabar made the disclosure on Monday while addressing questions from media personnel in Makurdi.
Nyityo, a professor in the Department of History, was k!lled on July 7, 2026, at his residence in Makurdi alongside his younger brother by suspected gunmen.
The Vice-Chancellor characterised the incident as a significant blow to the university and the History Department.
He confirmed that five arrests have been made, with the suspects reportedly originating from Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, based on information provided by security authorities.
