The public expenditure monitoring organisation Tracka has raised concerns regarding the deteriorating state of the Majaga Primary Health Care Centre in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, warning that the facility's condition threatens thousands of residents dependent on it for fundamental medical services.

Tracka made the observation following an assessment visit establishing that the centre represents the sole government-operated healthcare facility serving the Majaga community.

The facility operates without critical infrastructure and resources, including safe drinking water, pharmaceutical services, diagnostic laboratory capacity and injection administration areas.

Labour and maternity consultation spaces remain in severely compromised condition, whilst the centre suffers from insufficient bed capacity and lacks ward facilities and residential quarters for healthcare personnel.

Tracka indicated that these deficiencies present serious risks to residents, particularly pregnant women and individuals requiring emergency medical intervention.

Tracka appealed to the National Primary Health Care Development Agency and the Nasarawa State Government under Governor Abdullahi Sule to implement urgent remedial action through facility rehabilitation, equipment provision and comprehensive upgrading.

The organisation emphasised that functional primary healthcare access remains crucial, particularly within rural localities where limited alternatives exist when government health facilities cannot deliver essential services.

Community members from Majaga and adjoining areas have persistently expressed dissatisfaction with the facility's condition, repeatedly calling for increased governmental commitment to rural healthcare infrastructure development.
