85-Year-Old Community Leader Killed in Edo Home Attack

Shock has gripped a community in Benin City after an elderly community leader was fatally attacked at his residence.

An 85-year-old community leader, Reuben Owie, has been sh0t d£ad by gunmen at his residence in Iguosa, near Okhunhun, Benin City, Edo State.

Mr Owie, who served as secretary of Iyowa Community, was att@cked approximately 8:15 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, by two assailants, according to the Edo State Police Command.

Police spokeswoman Eno Ikoedem confirmed the incident, indicating that officers received a report from Osayomwanbo Owie, the deceased's son, following the att@ck at the victim's residence on Abu Street, Iguosa.

According to police statements, one of the assailants fired a shot to the victim's head, resulting in his d£ath.

Officers attended the scene, documented the incident and recovered the remains, which were subsequently conveyed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital.

Investigation into the incident remains ongoing, with law enforcement intensifying efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible.

The Okhunhun area is situated between the University of Benin and Oluku on the outer periphery of Benin City.
