The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended two suspects linked to the operation of an illicit dr¥g distribution facility in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area.

Police operatives conducted an early-morning raid on Tuesday, recovering narcotics suspected to include Cannabis sativa and methamphetamine valued at ₦6.2 million, alongside ₦598,400 in cash.

Arrested during the operation were Nzube Onyedikachukwu, alias "Onyeoma," aged 47, and Ugochukwu Azia, aged 20.

The raid was executed by officers attached to the Rapid Response Squad stationed in Awkuzu, acting on credible intelligence regarding suspected dr¥g dealers operating within the locality.

Preliminary investigation indicates the suspects were engaged in the distribution of illicit substances, with the seized location serving as a congregation point where suspected criminal elements assembled following their operations.

Several individuals reportedly fled upon police arrival.

The Commissioner of Police stated that the facility functioned as a criminal stronghold and that the operation aligns with the Inspector-General's directive to dismantle criminal hideouts nationwide through intelligence-driven enforcement.

The suspects remain in custody as investigators trace the supply chain and distribution network, identify connected parties, and determine the source and purpose of the recovered cash.

Police have pledged sustained targeted operations targeting criminal bases throughout the state and appealed to residents, traditional rulers, community leaders and stakeholders to furnish timely intelligence regarding suspicious activities and criminal locations.
