Popular Nigerian comedian Chukwuebuka Amuzie, known professionally as Brain Jotter, has reported being h@rassed by suspected thยฅgs whilst driving through Lagos.
The content creator shared an account on social media detailing an encounter with a group of men who blocked his vehicle and demanded settlement before permitting him passage.
The incident contributes to escalating reports from entertainers, professionals and residents regarding activities perpetrated by @rea boys in various Lagos locations.
Days earlier, Saltiana, younger sibling of Afrobeats performer Ayra Starr and known as DJ Salt of Life, recounted how suspected @rea boys vandalised her vehicle after mistaking her for the musician and demanding money.
Medical professional Olusina Ajidahun and filmmaker ThankGod Omori separately described experiences of ext0rtion and intimidation by street touts whilst engaged in professional activities across the state.
Ajidahun detailed how touts descended upon a complimentary medical programme in Mushin, threatening disruption unless monetary contributions were forthcoming.
State environmental authorities have previously acknowledged arrest and dispersal efforts targeting street urchins but attributed limited success to public monetary handouts to such individuals.
Officials cautioned that such payments inadvertently encouraged touts to perceive street activity as economically viable and fostered entitlement mentalities.
Appeals have been issued for collective public participation in establishing order and safety throughout the state.
Brain Jotter's experience refocused attention on challenges residents encounter navigating Lagos roadways.
Reports document recurring ext0rtion, h@rassment and vehicle damage incidents in districts including Lekki, Ajah, Oshodi, Mushin and Agege, with motorists operating higher-value vehicles or those misidentified as public figures facing repeated targeting.
