A tragic incident in Kano has claimed the life of an 18-year-old resident after he entered a pond in Danbatta.

An 18-year-old resident of Kano State has lost his life following submersion in a pond at Kofar Gabas in Danbatta Local Government Area.
The Kano State Fire Service disclosed the fatality on Wednesday, confirming the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon.
The fire service received notification at approximately 3:28 p.m. when a family member reported that the youth had entered the water body.
Personnel from the Danbatta fire station proceeded immediately to the location and located the submerged individual identified as Abdullahi Aminu.
Rescue operations extracted him from the pond in an unconscious condition.
Despite recovery efforts, he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
The deceased's remains were transferred to the Secretary of the Danbatta District Head's office for appropriate procedures.
The fire service extended condolences to the bereaved family whilst issuing a cautionary advisory to the public regarding hazards associated with unprotected water sources.
Residents were urged to exercise heightened vigilance near ponds, waterways and comparable aquatic environments, particularly during the prevailing season.
