A Kano court has fixed a new date for a case seeking to stop President Bola Tinubu from contesting the 2027 presidential election.

A Federal High Court in Kano State has scheduled September 21 for case mention in proceedings seeking to disqualify President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from contesting the 2027 elections based on allegations of academic credential forgery.
A civil rights group identified as the Centre for Reform and Public Advocacy initiated the legal action, requesting judicial intervention to bar Tinubu from participating in the forthcoming electoral process.
The applicant contends that Tinubu presented fraudulent academic documentation purportedly originating from Chicago State University and a falsified National Youth Service Corps discharge certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission during the 2023 presidential election cycle.
Court filings in the matter, referenced as FHC/K/CS/312/2026, indicate that parties to the litigation have submitted their respective written submissions prior to the designated mention date.
President Tinubu, the Independent National Electoral Commission and Chicago State University have been named as defendants within the proceedings.
