The Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association's Zamfara state chapter has commended Governor Dauda Lawal for implementing the new Consolidated Medical Salary Structure for veterinary doctors in the state.
The association described the development as a major boost to veterinary welfare and professional standing, noting it would strengthen animal healthcare and livestock development.
The NVMA said the implementation reflects the state government's recognition of the critical role veterinary doctors play in protecting animal and public health.
Veterinary professionals are essential to improving livestock productivity, controlling zoonotic diseases, ensuring food safety and contributing to the state's economic development.
The new salary structure addresses longstanding concerns over remuneration and professional welfare among veterinary doctors.
Improved remuneration will boost morale and productivity of veterinary personnel and encourage better service provision to livestock farmers and communities across Zamfara.
The association pledged continued support for the Lawal administration's efforts to promote animal health, livestock development and public health.
It thanked the governor for the intervention and expressed hope the implementation would translate into improved veterinary services across the state.
