The National Orientation Agency's Osun State office has called on eligible voters to participate peacefully in the governorship election on Saturday, August 15.
The state director released the appeal on Friday, urging citizens to approach the election with patriotism, responsibility and commitment to democratic principles.
He emphasized that every eligible voter has the right to freely select a candidate without fear, intimidation or inducement.
The director assured residents that security personnel deployed for the election have been tasked with protecting voters, electoral officials, election materials and all other participants.
He noted that the presence of security forces should not concern law-abiding citizens before, during or after the election.
The agency called on political parties, candidates, traditional and religious leaders, youth groups and other stakeholders to maintain peace and uphold the rule of law throughout the electoral process.
It urged voters and political actors to reject violence, vote buying and vote selling, stressing that protecting the election's integrity is a shared responsibility.
The director advised voters to cast their ballots peacefully and depart the polling areas immediately after voting, while encouraging all stakeholders to allow the electoral process to proceed unimpeded.
"Let history record that in Osun, Nigeria, we choose dialogue over violence; we choose ballots over bullets, and we choose peace over chaos," the director stated.
