Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged the Federal Government and other pertinent authorities to act quickly to put a stop to the ongoing killings and insecurity around the nation.

In response to recent attacks in Ukum, Benue State, where multiple persons were reportedly killed and others injured, as well as the reported deaths of 32 Nigerians in Ungushi, Sokoto State, Obi made the appeal in a statement posted on his official social media handle on Tuesday.

He called the events "deeply painful," emphasizing that the dead were more than just statistics they were parents, kids, and breadwinners whose passing had shattered families and communities.

"Let's put an end to this murderous cycle. The recent attacks in Ukum, Benue, where additional people have died and numerous more have been injured, and the killings in Ungushi, Sokoto, where 32 Nigerians are said to have died, are extremely distressing.

These are more than simply figures. They are breadwinners, parents, kids, and farmers whose lives have been cut short, leaving towns terrified and families in ruins.

"A cycle of murders, condolences, promises, and inaction cannot continue. Addressing insecurity must be a top priority for all levels of government.

Better intelligence, proactive security, quick reactions, safeguarding vulnerable groups, and meticulous prosecution of offenders are all necessary.

"The government must make an effort to safeguard its citizens' property and lives.

Nigerians should be able to travel safely on our highways, sleep soundly in their homes, and visit their fields fearlessly.

"I send my sympathies to the families and communities impacted by these needless murders.

"May Almighty Allah pardon the departed, may God console the bereaved, and may our country find eternal peace," Obi stated.

Let's end this cycle of killings.

The killings in Ungushi, Sokoto, where 32 Nigerians reportedly lost their lives, and the recent attacks in Ukum, Benue, where more lives have been lost and several others injured, are deeply painful.

These are not just numbers. They are…
