Davido, a well-known Afrobeats artist, has voiced concern over a change in the demand for Nigerian musicians abroad and advised seasoned performers to give priority to performing domestically.
The singer was interviewed on The Uncut Podcast.
Davido saw that foreign markets are starting to feel a certain familiarity with Nigerian performers as he considered the shifting music scene in the US and the UK.
Citing a decrease in the foreign market's attractiveness in comparison to prior years, he expressed his optimism that the industry's top performers will return home in the upcoming years.
"I want the original musicians to return to Nigeria within the next ten years." To be honest, there is already a "see finish" in America and London, he remarked.
The singer noted a discernible decline in the number of artists able to independently sell out large international arenas when comparing current trends to previous years.
"Three years ago, at least twenty performers could perform in London and sell out, but now I can only think of four or five, and we are all familiar with them. Everyone can see the change," Davido said.
