The national leader of the ruling political party is scheduled to visit Oyo State today to meet with unhappy members and try to bring peace within the party ranks before the 2027 elections.
Some governorship candidates and their supporters in the state have complained about how the primary election was conducted, which resulted in Senator Sharafadeen Ali being chosen as the party's candidate.
A group led by a former deputy governor has argued that the party doesn't yet have a properly chosen candidate for governor.
They say while they don't oppose having a single agreed-upon candidate, it should be done in a fair and credible way.
To help resolve the ongoing disagreement, President Bola Tinubu has already met with party leaders and other important figures in the state.
Although some have agreed to stop the dispute, the national party leadership wants to meet everyone together in Ibadan today to get the party ready for the elections ahead.
The meeting is expected to bring together the candidate, several former and current politicians, past candidates who didn't win the primary, the state party chairman and many others involved in the dispute.
On the same day, the national party chairman will also visit the traditional ruler of Ibadan to pay his respects at the palace.
