The top police official in Abia State led a march through the streets of Umuahia, the state capital, on Thursday to mark International Youth Day.

The Commissioner of Police was joined by members of his team, youth organizations, and officials from the state's ministry of youth development.

During the march, the police commissioner told young people in the state to stay away from political thuggery and online harassment.

He said the police want to work alongside young people and are not their enemies.

He stressed that police support the progress and development of youth in Abia State.

The commissioner warned youths against getting involved in activities that could harm their communities, including political violence, digital abuse, and other harmful behaviors.

Instead, he urged them to use their energy on positive and useful pursuits.

He also suggested that young people get involved in fitness activities and proposed that the police organize a monthly walkathon with youth every last Saturday of the month.

The idea was well-received by those present.
