Peter Obi, running for president in 2027, has appealed to Nigerians to vote for him and give him the chance to lead the country.
He made the announcement at a news conference in Onitsha, Anambra on Friday as he kicked off his campaign for the January 16 elections.
Obi said Nigeria is facing serious problems that threaten the nation's survival.
He believes he can fix these challenges if Nigerians give him their support.
He pointed out that many young people struggle to find good jobs every year, while weak power supply, poor roads, insecurity, and high business costs continue to hurt families and businesses.
He says his economic plan will focus on getting people to produce, invest, and create jobs.
He highlighted his experience working in the private sector, his education at top institutions, and his time as Anambra governor as reasons why he is best for the job.
His running mate, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, brings his own experience as a former Kano State governor where he focused heavily on education, training, and infrastructure.
Together, they believe Nigeria must invest in its people and spend public money wisely.
Obi urged Nigerians to carefully examine what each candidate promises, ask difficult questions, and demand proof rather than just taking things for granted.
He called for campaign debates without hatred and healthy competition without violence.
If elected, Obi promised to boost agriculture by protecting farming communities, expanding irrigation, improving rural roads, and connecting farmers to markets and financing.
He also plans to strengthen manufacturing so Nigeria can export more finished goods and make more money from its resources.
On security, he said his administration would improve how security agencies share information and work together, strengthen police and border control, and use better technology to stop threats early.
He stressed that farmers, students, and business owners cannot thrive if they cannot move around safely.
