An APC candidate running for Senate in Ondo South has dismissed claims that he has fallen out with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Dr. Isaacs Kekemeke, a former party official, said reports of a rift between them are false and made up by political enemies trying to cause trouble.
Rumors had circulated suggesting the governor had withdrawn his support for Kekemeke and attended a meeting where some party members backed a candidate from another party.
But Kekemeke flatly denied this, saying the governor actually helped him become the APC candidate in the first place.
Kekemeke said there is no problem between him and the governor and their relationship remains strong.
He praised the governor for supporting him during the party primaries and called him his benefactor and the leader of the party in the state.
He stressed his loyalty and said nothing has changed between them.
He described attempts to create division within the party as pointless and accused those spreading rumors of relying on incomplete information.
He also rejected the idea that the governor would ever support a candidate from another party when the APC already has an official candidate.
Kekemeke said the meeting in Okitipupa did not speak for the party and that those who organized it could not even announce which party they were endorsing.
He assured that the APC remains united in Ondo South and that members would stay loyal to the party.
