According to a sheriff, a Georgia mother of three was shot and killed by her violent boyfriend, who then turned the pistol on himself after being confronted a day later.
The sheriff remembered the "heart-wrenching" moment he told her kids the news.
According to Harris County Sheriff Mike Jolley, Nicole Karastury Elliot, 35, had just gotten home from dropping off two of her children, ages 6 and 10, at school in Waverly Hall, Georgia, when Andrew Roy Harris, 36, who was out on bond for a prior domestic abuse charge, confronted her.
Before the mother was shot in the head in the yard, her doorbell camera saw them fighting and her pleading for her life.
The sheriff told reporters on Tuesday that "we heard voices on the Ring camera where she had yelled, 'Don't do it."
"After hearing the gunfire, we heard her yell his name and say, 'Don't, don't do it.'"
Harris was discovered on Tuesday at a Day's Inn in Phenix City, Alabama, which is located across state lines.
As police were approaching him to make an arrest, Harris shot himself in the head.
The murderer seemed to want to "make the deputies kill him by suicide by cop" prior to his cowardly demise, according to Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor.
Instead, Harris was discovered holding the same gun that killed Elliot and suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
According to Jolley, the marital conflict started on Sunday nite when Harris attempted to "start abusing" Elliot's middle son's medication.
When she got home on Monday morning after dropping off her two sons, ages six and ten, at school, the dispute continued.
Her 14-year-old daughter had stayed over at the home of her biological father.
Harris had been dating the mother since 2024, but he was not the father of any of the children.
Breaking the news to Elliot's three kids was "heart-wrenching," according to Sheriff Jolley.
"Telling three young children that their mother is no longer here is heartbreaking, but it's never an easy thing to do," he added.
According to Taylor, Harris was out on bail for a domestic incident when he shot Elliot and had previously been charged with many counts of domestic abuse in Georgia and Alabama.
Elliot frequently uploads pictures of Harris grinning with her kids on social media.
To commemorate their first year together, Elliot shared a list of everything she adores about Harris in May 2025.
He was also referred to as her "future husband."
She wrote, "Above all, I love doing life with you."
"Cheers to many, many more memories and our first year together."
