A six-year-old girl is dead and a 29-year-old man is in police custody following a disturbing incident in Cross River State.

Police in Cross River State have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with the alleged m@rder of his six-year-old stepdaughter in Bakassi Local Government Area.
The suspect, Saviour Otu Adim, is accused of @ssaulting the child, Goodness Ekpo Okon, resulting in her d£ath.
The incident was reported on August 28 by the child's mother, Mrs Itoro Udofia, who alleged that the suspect att@cked the girl.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect had accused the child of being a witch.
The child's remains have been taken to a mortuary for autopsy examination.
The suspect remains in police custody while investigations continue.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Calabar for further investigation.
Police have called on members of the public to protect children in their care, to report cases of @buse quickly, and to avoid spreading unverified information or taking the law into their own hands.
