A commerce commissioner in Ebonyi State has been accused of ordering the abduction and personally att@cking a young man because of his political views.

The victim, identified as Madu, was beaten and allegedly stamped on repeatedly by the official after being dragged to his home.

A former student government president shared video evidence showing Madu receiving medical treatment for injuries he said he got during the incident.

Speaking in his native dialect, Madu explained that four men grabbed him and forced him into a minibus, then drove him to Commissioner Oguzorkanu Offia-Nwali's residence without his consent.

At the commissioner's house, Madu said he was confronted with a video of himself supporting Rollins, the commissioner's brother, who is running for the State House of Assembly under the National Democratic Congress.

When asked about his comments, Madu said he clarified that he was speaking generally about non-performing politicians and backed Rollins because he believed the man would govern better.

According to Madu, the commissioner became violent.

He alleged that Offia-Nwali personally att@cked him while the four men stood by and watched.

Madu claimed the commissioner kicked his face, tr@mpled on his head with his boot while holding him down, smashed his head on the floor, and slapped him repeatedly around his eyes.

A second video showed Madu on the floor with the commissioner apparently pinning him down with his leg while the other men watched nearby.

The former student government president, Caesar Francis, condemned what happened and said Madu was a young man caught in the middle of political rivalry.

Francis noted that Madu had been moved somewhere safe and given medical care.

Francis also responded to posts the commissioner made on social media claiming credit for helping Francis during his student government campaign and saying Francis had been calling his phone. Francis flatly denied ever meeting the commissioner or having his number, challenging him to produce any evidence of their alleged contact. Francis said he only knew the politician through social media.

Francis called on public officials to stop misusing government resources for personal gain, funding political thugs, and intimidating ordinary citizens.

Efforts to reach Commissioner Offia-Nwali for comment were unsuccessful.
