Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru has issued a blunt warning to newly inaugurated local government chairmen ahead of the 2027 elections.

Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has warned local government chairmen that they will lose their jobs if they fail to deliver their areas to the ruling APC in next year's elections.
He made the threat while inaugurating newly elected council leaders on Tuesday.
Nwifuru said any chairman who doesn't win his council will be removed and replaced with a councillor.
He told them to work hard to stop the opposition from gaining ground in their areas and to deliver 100 percent votes for the APC in 2027.
He made it clear this was not secret talk but something for the newspapers.
The governor told the chairmen that sleeping on the job while others took their areas would get them sacked.
He stressed they must do everything within their power to ensure victory.
He also spoke to the vice chairmen, warning them not to create problems.
He said they should support their chairmen like spare tyres in a car boot only useful when the main chairman can't function.
He told them to ignore gossip and bad advice from friends that could damage their relationship with their bosses.
One of the newly inaugurated chairmen, Timothy Nwachi of Afikpo, responded on behalf of the group, promising they would justify the confidence placed in them and ensure the APC wins by a landslide in 2027.
Among those inaugurated were Osborne Umahi, son of the Works Minister, taking over Ohaozara Local Government Area, and Chidi Nwode, brother of the governor's wife, heading Ikwo Local Government Area.
