Police Launch New App to Help Nigerians Fight Financial Fraud

The Nigeria Police Force has launched two new tools to fight financial fraud and improve communication within the force.

The Inspector-General of Police unveiled the Force Vigilant App and the NPF-MTN Closed User Group Network on Tuesday in Abuja.

The Vigilant App is a smartphone platform that lets Nigerians report suspected financial fraud.

Users can submit reports, add evidence, track their cases and get updates.

The app works with banks and other financial institutions to handle complaints properly.

The CUG Network is a dedicated communication system just for police officers across the country.

It gives them a secure and affordable way to stay in contact with each other.

The network will help officers coordinate better during emergencies and respond faster to incidents.

The police chief said both platforms show the force is serious about using technology to serve the public better.

He stressed that technology must be used lawfully and responsibly, protecting people's privacy and rights.

He also thanked banks, tech companies, MTN Nigeria and other partners who helped build these systems.

The Deputy Inspector-General urged Nigerians to download the Vigilant App from Google Play Store or Apple App Store and use it to report fraud.

The force says it is committed to working with private companies and government agencies to make policing more effective and responsive to citizens' needs.
