A disturbing discovery in Katsina State has led to the arrest of a man accused of allegedly diverting food meant for vulnerable and malnourished children.

Police in Katsina State have arrested a man for allegedly stealing and diverting food supplements that were meant to help malnourished children.
Officers intercepted 1,500 sachets of the therapeutic food packed in three bags on August 26 at a checkpoint following a tip-off.
The food was supposed to be given free to sick and malnourished children at government health clinics.
During questioning, the arrested man said he obtained the items from a clinic worker who is still on the run.
Police are continuing their investigation to find the clinic worker and uncover how widespread the theft was.
The police warned the public against buying, selling or possessing this type of food illegally.
Officials stressed that the supplement is specially made for vulnerable and malnourished children and should only be distributed free at health facilities under medical supervision.
It is not meant for sale or private use.
The state police commissioner has ordered a full investigation into the case.
Once completed, the suspect and anyone else found to be involved will be taken to court.
Police appealed to members of the public to report any suspicious activities involving the theft or diversion of government aid and medical supplies to the nearest police station.
