The managing partner of a Washington-based lobbying firm has been appointed by the US President to serve as a commissioner on a presidential advisory board.

Dr. Karl Von Batten's appointment was announced by his law and lobbying firm through social media.

According to the announcement, Von Batten is grateful for the confidence the President has placed in him and looks forward to serving the country in this role.

The appointment reflects his long history of public service and leadership, according to the firm's statement.

The firm noted that this appointment is a significant honour.

Von Batten's company congratulated him and expressed confidence in his success in the position.

The development is noteworthy given that this same firm was hired earlier this year by a Nigerian presidential candidate to represent his interests in the United States.

The 12-month contract was valued at $1.2 million and began in March 2026.
