A Portuguese coach, Carlos Queiroz has been brought back to manage Ghana's national football team.
The 73-year-old was appointed again by the Ghana Football Association after previously leading the team at the World Cup earlier this year.
The coach took over Ghana's team in April and guided them through the tournament until they lost 1-0 to Colombia in the final knockout round.
He had indicated on social media that he was leaving after the defeat, but the association decided to bring him back for another stint.
The football association did not say how long his new contract runs but said he will prepare the team for a new phase of international football.
Officials noted that his long experience managing teams at major tournaments, combined with his knowledge of Ghana's squad, makes him well positioned to lead the team forward.
The coach has managed Iran, Portugal and Egypt at major competitions.
He has also worked with South Africa, Colombia and Qatar.
He previously served as assistant coach at a major English football club under one of the sport's greatest managers.
His first job will be getting Ghana ready for qualification matches for the next Africa Cup of Nations, which start later this month.
Ghana has been placed in a group with three other teams in the qualifying competition.
The exact dates and locations for Ghana's opening matches have not yet been announced.
The association said more details about his goals and plans would be shared later.
