A police officer’s public resignation over an alleged two-year salary crisis has triggered an investigation in Bauchi State.

An investigation into the resignation of a police officer who claimed to have been denied access to his salary for two years has been started by the Bauchi State Police Command.
According to reports, the officer, F/No. 524180, CPL Yusuf Aliyu, resigned from the Nigeria Police Force on social media due to his inability to get his wage.
Nonetheless, the command stated that initial results indicated that the police authorities had paid Aliyu's wage "promptly and consistently."
In a statement on Thursday, SP Nafi'u Habib, the Police Public Relations Officer, revealed that Sani-Omolori Aliyu, the Commissioner of Police, had mandated a covert and comprehensive inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the officer's purported salary access issue.
Habib claims that the issue was caused by a difference between Aliyu's Bank Verification Number (BVN) and the name on his salary account.
According to preliminary results, the police authorities have regularly and quickly paid the officer's wage.
He stated, "The observed difficulty is attributable to a discrepancy in his Bank Verification Number (BVN), as the name linked to the BVN differs entirely from the name on his salary account, resulting in the restriction."
However, the command criticized the officer for not using the authorized internal channels for redress and instead taking his complaint to social media and publicizing his alleged resignation.
"The Command notes with concern that the officer resorted to the use of social media to vent his grievance and announce a purported resignation, rather than exploiting the established internal mechanisms for redress," the PPRO stated.
"This behavior amounts to an attempt to discredit the Command and the Force as a whole and is a blatant violation of the Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy."
"No genuine complaint will be left unattended," Habib continued, adding that the Commissioner of Police had reassured officers and men that their welfare remained a top concern.
According to the PPRO, the CP has also instructed staff members to follow the Force Social Media Policy and file grievances through the proper channels.
The command reaffirmed its dedication to professionalism, discipline, and staff welfare.
