A major road crash has left several people dead and others injured along a busy expressway in Enugu State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed that five persons d!ed in a multiple vehicle crash on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway at Ugwuonyeama on Thursday.
The accident, which occurred near the LNG Plant at approximately 3:18 p.m., involved a trailer, a commercial bus and a car.
FRSC Route Commander Theophilus Okoduwa told a news correspondent that twenty-five people were caught up in the incident, comprising thirteen males and twelve females.
Of these, eighteen people sustained injuries seven males and eleven females while four males and one female lost their lives in the crash.
The vehicles involved were a Donhfeng trailer, a Mitsubishi L300 commercial bus and a Honda car.
Within nine minutes of the incident being reported to the FRSC Sector Command at 3:25 p.m., officers, marshals and patrol vehicles with an ICU ambulance arrived at the scene.
The injured were transported to Tex Hospital at 9th Mile Corner for treatment, while the five deceased were moved to Ekochin Morgue at 9th Mile following medical confirmation.
Traffic has been diverted and clearing operations are ongoing to remove vehicle wreckage from the expressway.
Preliminary investigation suggests the accident may have resulted from wrongful overtaking and speed violation by one of the drivers involved.
