Nigerians are facing another sharp rise in energy costs as diesel prices climb to a new level across Abuja and nearby areas.

Diesel prices in Nigeria have surged past the N2,000 per litre mark, with retail prices jumping from between N1,700 and N1,800 to between N2,000 and N2,020 per litre across filling stations in Abuja and surrounding areas.
The latest increase represents a jump of N300 to N320 per litre depending on the filling station and location.
The spike follows depot owners raising their wholesale prices to N1,900 per litre.
Multiple depot operators including Ranoil Delta, Nigerian Independent Petroleum Company, NIPCO Warri, Prudent Oghara and Zamson have implemented the new pricing.
The latest round of price increases comes after Dangote Refinery had already raised its gantry diesel price by N100 to N1,850 per litre as crude oil prices topped $95 per barrel.
However, international crude benchmarks have cooled slightly from their peaks, with Brent crude trading at $94.74 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate at $90.34 per barrel as of Friday.
