The PDP's governorship candidate in Benue, Michael Aondoakaa, says the 2027 election will show whether Governor Hyacinth Alia deserves another term.

Speaking on Monday, Aondoakaa said he's confident the incumbent can be defeated.

He pushed back against the idea that sitting governors in Benue have never lost re-election fights, saying getting a second term isn't automatic.

According to Aondoakaa, the Constitution guarantees a governor four years in office.

The second four years depends on what voters decide.

He said governors only get what the people give them.

Aondoakaa is hopeful about winning because of what he sees as real problems the governor isn't accessible enough to people, insecurity keeps getting worse, and development is spread unevenly across the state.

He said previous governors who got re-elected stayed close to their people and made them feel valued and heard.

He stressed that political leaders need to be available to those they serve and create spaces where citizens feel welcome.

Aondoakaa urged Benue voters to look carefully at what the current administration has done before deciding whether to give it another chance.
