Benue State Government says it knew nothing about Peter Obi's visit to the state and questions whether he even went there.

The governor's spokesman said neither the state government nor security agencies were told about the NDC presidential candidate planning to come.

He pointed out that Obi is an important person and should have had proper security arrangements made in advance if he was really coming.

The spokesman said it doesn't make sense that youths could block a presidential candidate if real security had been set up for him.

He dismissed claims that the governor sent people to stop Obi, saying the governor doesn't support thuggery.

If Obi really was a problem, legitimate security forces would handle it, not a mob.

The spokesman also said the governor hadn't been told by any security agency about Obi coming to Benue.

He suggested that either Obi didn't come at all or something else was going on that didn't add up.

He recalled Obi making similar claims before about being stopped in Benue and said the government had looked into those allegations too.
