At least one person has died and 20 others were injured after a passenger train crashed into a delivery truck at a rail crossing and flipped off the tracks in Poland.

Emergency workers rushed to the scene near the town of Przysucha, located about 60 miles southeast of Warsaw.

Photos from the crash show train carriages lying on their sides while rescue teams worked to help injured passengers.

Officials say the train was carrying around 120 passengers from Lublin to Szczecin when the collision happened around 11:20 a.m.

The force of the impact knocked the locomotive onto its side on the opposite track and overturned several carriages.

Poland’s Deputy Infrastructure Minister explained that early reports suggest the truck driver may have been blinded by the sun before driving onto the tracks.

Both the truck driver and the train driver were among those injured.

Firefighters had to cut through the crushed truck cab to free the driver, who was trapped inside.

Four people suffered severe injuries, and two air ambulances were brought in to airlift the worst affected to nearby hospitals.

Rail officials have completely stopped all train movement along the line while authorities investigate the crash.

This tragic event comes just days after another dangerous train crash in Gdansk, Poland, where a passenger train carrying 300 people hit a truck that got stuck between level crossing barriers.
