The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has appealed to voters across the South-East to support her husband, President Bola Tinubu, as he seeks re-election in the 2027 presidential election.

Mrs Tinubu said she wants to see a better Nigeria as she gets older and that she and the President are committed to working for the country's development.

She made the appeal during an official visit to the South-East on Wednesday in Owerri, Imo State, where she was there to empower women.

She told the people that if they vote for the President, both she and he would work to improve Nigeria so that she could enjoy the country in her later years.

The First Lady explained that the women's empowerment programme is being run through the President's office focusing on sustainable development goals.

When the programme is finished, it will help 18,500 women across Nigeria.

Each of the five South-East states will get 500 women who will receive support for their businesses.

The items they will get include generators, industrial grinding machines, gas cylinders and ovens to help them start or grow their businesses.
