A resident in Meiran has landed in trouble after allegedly turning a drainage channel into a dumping ground during rainfall.

The Lagos Waste Management Authority has arrested a resident of Meiran for dumping refuse into a drainage channel during rainfall.
The man, who lives on Lanre Adefiranye Street in Meiran, was caught following a tip received by the enforcement team.
The arrest was made in a joint operation involving the waste management authority's enforcement unit, the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps and mobile police officers working with the team.
The Managing Director of the waste authority announced the arrest, explaining that the enforcement team had received information that the resident was disposing of garbage into a drainage channel while it was raining.
Officers went to the location, apprehended the suspect and took him to the sanitation corps headquarters for prosecution.
The waste authority chief stressed that residents need to stop throwing garbage carelessly, especially into drainage systems, as this practice directly causes blocked drains and flooding in the state.
He said the suspect would face prosecution for his actions.
