Peter Obi, the NDC presidential candidate, says he will not sit comfortably in Abuja while states across Nigeria are facing serious problems.

Speaking on television Thursday, Obi stressed that Nigeria's security crisis is a critical issue affecting farming, productivity and people's movement across the country.

If elected, Obi said he would immediately start consulting with leaders and stakeholders in different parts of Nigeria to tackle the security problems.

He said as Commander-in-Chief, he would not stay in Abuja when there are crises in states like Zamfara or Niger. Instead, he would visit those areas and deal with the problems decisively.

Even if he keeps some security officials already in place, Obi said they would know that a new Commander-in-Chief is in charge.

He stressed that he would not just appoint security chiefs from Abuja but would personally move to the critical problem areas and be involved in addressing the issues on the ground.
