Nigeria’s victorious D’Tigress team has finally received the huge reward promised after their historic continental victory.

Players and officials of Nigeria's D'Tigress women's basketball team have received the $100,000 payment promised to them after winning the 2025 FIBA Women's Afrobasket tournament.
President Tinubu made the pledge during a reception at his residence last year when he hosted the squad.
He promised each player a three-bedroom home and $100,000 in Naira equivalent, plus national honours.
The funds have now been fully distributed.
Each player received the Naira equivalent of $100,000, while officials received the equivalent of $50,000.
The homes and national honours were also delivered.
The president said his administration became the first Federal Government to fully deliver presidential sporting rewards of that scale within one year.
He stressed that the process followed proper legal procedures before implementation, saying "a promise made must be a promise kept."
The president also said the government is concluding outstanding cash rewards for the Super Falcons women's soccer team.
Super Eagles soccer players already received their promised homes and national honours.
The Basketball Federation president thanked the sports commission chairman and finance minister for ensuring the rewards were finalised.
The D'Tigress captain said the team was grateful to the president for demonstrating strong commitment to Nigerian athletes' welfare and development.
She said this shows Nigerian sports is taking a major positive shift under a sports-loving president.
D'Tigress won their seventh continental title and fifth consecutive Afrobasket championship, defeating Mali in the final.
