Lecturers at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka have ended their quick strike after receiving their complete August 2026 salaries.

The decision was announced on Friday, September 11, following a meeting where union leaders confirmed that the issue had been fully resolved.

The strike began on September 7 after the branch enforced a national rule to stop work whenever full pay is withheld.

With the money now paid, the union directed all lecturers to immediately return to class, grade papers, attend meetings, and handle all other university duties.

Union leaders praised the lecturers for standing together during the short walkout.

However, they told members to stay alert and keep a close eye on future salary payments to avoid another delay.
