Kaduna State says a major breakthrough in its fight against insecurity is helping restore farming and movement across the state.

The Kaduna State Government has recovered over 500,000 hectares of land that had been under the control of b@ndits across the state.

Speaking at a gala night for journalists during the Kano Correspondents' Chapel retreat, the Commissioner for Information and Culture said Governor Uba Sani's administration achieved this recovery within the past three years.

The commissioner noted that before the improvement, farmers in affected areas couldn't work their land because of b@ndit activities, and travellers avoided the Kaduna-Abuja road.

Security has now become much better in Kaduna State, allowing people to move freely and farmers to return to their fields.

The state government continues to prioritise security as the foundation for any development.

As part of efforts to boost food production, the government distributed 500 trucks of free fertiliser to more than 150,000 farmers during the 2026 farming season.

This follows the distribution of 400 trucks in 2024 and 500 trucks in 2025.

On education, the state has reduced the number of out-of-school children from 550,000 to 187,000.

The government also purchased 100 CNG buses in July 2025 to transport students and workers at cheaper fares.

Since then, the buses have transported more than 3.5 million people and saved residents at least 3.8 million naira.

Workers have saved about 40 per cent of their transport costs since the buses started operating, confirmed by the Nigeria Labour Congress.
