Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate Peter Obi has challenged anyone to release any official records about him, saying he has nothing to hide.

Speaking in an interview about claims by Ambassador-designate Reno Omokri that presidential candidates have FBI files, Obi said he was unaware of having any such file and had never dealt with the FBI.

The former Anambra State governor said he welcomes full public scrutiny because anyone seeking office should be willing to answer for themselves.

He plans to ask the University of Nigeria to release every document from his academic file, including his admission details and results from first year through graduation.

The same openness should apply to the business schools where he attended executive programmes Lagos Business School, London School of Economics, Columbia Business School, Kellogg, Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, INSEAD and IMD.

Obi said public officials must subject themselves to public examination because they are leaders who should set the example for society.

He urged other presidential candidates to adopt the same level of transparency and honesty about any past mistakes they may have made.
